With the close of the Spring semester, I finished the courses I was
taking through Housatonic Community College's distance learningprogram. I am currently finishing my first course through the University of Georgia's Independent and Distance Learning program, and am starting in on my second.
I cannot stress enough how important the CANE Certification
Scholarship has been to me in allowing me to pursue this goal.
Coupled with the availability of distance learning programs in
Latin, non-traditional or older (I prefer "maior") students like
myself, who may be looking for a career change, have more
opportunities to do so than ever before. I think this is a
wonderful way to bring even more people into the profession.
And sometimes it has quick results! I'm happy and proud to say
that I will be teaching Latin at Canton (CT) High School starting
this fall.
Thanks again to the CANE Scholarship Committee, and the general
membership, for this wonderful opportunity!
